mcp

ask-eval-empty-input warning log

Eval called with empty tool name or empty input object. An eval with no tool or empty input will match no conditions and return a vacuous ALLOW — this is almost certainly a bug in the agent's tool call construction.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
ask-eval-many-inline-rules warning ask

Eval contains 5+ inline rules in a single call. Bulk inline rule submission is the smuggling pattern documented for MCP tool poisoning — reviewers cannot easily audit large inline blobs. Prefer hub-stored rules; only proceed if every inline rule is reviewed.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
ask-hub-submit warning ask

Publishing a ruleset to the SigmaShake Hub is a public action that makes rules available to all users. Verify the repo URL, rule contents, and that no secrets are embedded.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
ask-large-audit-query warning log

Large audit query (limit >= 50) returns significant data that consumes context tokens. Most debugging tasks are served by the last 10-20 entries.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
force-rule-id-format warning force

Invalid rule_id format. Rule IDs are kebab-case: lowercase alphanumeric with hyphens, starting with a letter.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
log-audit-no-filter info log

Audit query with no filters returns mixed results. Filter by decision (allow/block/force) or by tool name to get actionable data more efficiently.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
log-audit-query info log

Audit log queried. Audit results are point-in-time snapshots — avoid re-querying within the same reasoning step unless new eval calls have been made since the last query.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
log-eval-call info log

sigmashake_eval invoked. Every eval call is a governance checkpoint — the tool name and resulting decision are recorded in the audit log for observability.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
log-rules-get-call info log

Individual rule fetched. If you need multiple rules, prefer sigmashake_rules_list with a filter over sequential sigmashake_rules_get calls — it saves round trips and context tokens.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
log-rules-list-call info log

Rules list queried. The ruleset is static within a session — cache the result instead of re-fetching. If filtering by severity, consider fetching all rules once and filtering locally.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
log-status-call info log

Health check called. Status calls are cheap but frequent calls indicate the agent may be polling instead of trusting the connection. One status check per session is typically sufficient.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
no-eval-inline-allow error block

Inline rules containing ALLOW decisions are blocked. An agent could inject an ALLOW rule to override existing DENY rules — this is a rule injection attack. Use stored rules from the hub instead of inline overrides.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
no-eval-inline-force error block

Inline rules containing FORCE decisions are blocked. FORCE rules with SUBSTITUTE can redirect tool behavior — this is a rule injection vector. Use stored rules managed through the hub.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
no-eval-invisible-unicode error block

Invisible unicode (bidi override or Tag block) detected. These code points hide instructions inside tool descriptions and are the primary mechanism for stealth tool poisoning attacks against MCP clients (Trail of Bits, 2025). Strip non-printable characters before eval.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
no-eval-tool-poisoning error block

Inline rules contain prompt-injection markers — this is the tool-poisoning pattern documented in MCPTox and the WhatsApp MCP exfiltration disclosure (Invariant Labs, 2025). Drop the inline rules and load reviewed rules from the hub instead.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
no-hub-submit-bad-url error block

Hub submission blocked — repo_url must be a valid GitHub HTTPS URL (https://github.com/owner/repo). SSH URLs, non-GitHub hosts, and URLs with trailing paths or fragments are not accepted.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
no-hub-submit-path-traversal error block

Hub submission contains path-traversal or non-HTTPS scheme. CVE-2025-68145 (mcp-server-git path bypass) showed how unchecked paths in MCP submissions become RCE chains — the repo_url must be a clean https:// URL with no traversal sequences.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
no-token-in-eval-input error block

Token or API key detected in eval input (GitHub, Anthropic, OpenAI, AWS, Slack, or Google). Eval inputs are persisted in the audit log in plaintext — secrets must never flow through eval. Pass tokens only to sigmashake_hub_submit, never through eval.

Rule source requires an active Pro or Enterprise subscription.
